Jim Corbett although a Britisher, lived in India as an Indian for several decades. He hunted only man eating Tigers and Leopards and never hunted for pleasure. One of his many real stories entitled Robin was one of the lessons in our Tenth Class English text book.
Robin was his pet hunting dog. I enjoy reading Jim Carbett books and giving an omnibus here is great. Thank you for uploading this great book. He trained troops in jungle warfare and won a number of awards and medals for his contributions.
In , he established India's first national park in the Kumaon Hills. The park would be renamed Corbett National Park after his death. Because of his hunting and shooting skills, he was called upon to track down man-eating tigers and leopards with a high level of success. Beginning around , Corbett tracked and killed some 33 man-eaters, responsible for the death of some men, women and children.
After , he began to be more interested in photography than hunting, and produced both stills and moving film of Indian wildlife and especially tigers. In , he published Man-eaters of Kumaon , a huge success and which gave him international recognition. In , Corbett retired to Kenya with his sister and continued to write and work for conservation until his death from a heart attack.
